CalculatorFlux cash-flow reference collection Version 1.0.0 | Updated 2026-09-10 https://calculatorflux.com/resources/cash-flow-reference-library PURPOSE 16 constructed examples isolate timing, value, fees and ambiguous returns. These are illustrative schedules, not investment observations, market benchmarks, or a forecast. The Microsoft fixture is attributed below. REPRODUCTION Each annual CSV has an Amount header and retains every year, beginning at time zero. Each dated CSV has Date,Amount headers and ISO YYYY-MM-DD dates. In the /irr workspace, choose the matching annual or dated mode before importing. The CSV includes the cash flows, not rates. Enter the discount, finance and reinvestment rates from the case. collection.json includes those rates as decimals. All amounts use USD; fees and other adjustments exist only where explicitly stated. Dated cases use actual elapsed calendar days / 365. MIRR is annual-case only. Same-date offset is indeterminate; no-root is different from a 0% return. FILES AND EXPECTED RETURNS zero-period-retained.csv | annual | 10.000000% | NPV 0.00 at 10% zero-period-deleted.csv | annual | 21.000000% | NPV 100.00 at 10% two-valid-irrs.csv | annual | 10.000000% / 20.000000% | NPV 0.19 at 15% sign-changes-without-irr.csv | annual | No real IRR above -100% | NPV -137.19 at 10% capital-returned-without-growth.csv | annual | 0.000000% | NPV -173.55 at 10% loss-spread-over-two-years.csv | annual | -10.000000% | NPV -330.58 at 10% scale-small-high-rate.csv | annual | 25.000000% | NPV 6818.18 at 10% scale-large-lower-rate.csv | annual | 14.000000% | NPV 18181.82 at 10% double-money-two-years.csv | annual | 41.421356% | NPV 652.89 at 10% double-money-five-years.csv | annual | 14.869835% | NPV 241.84 at 10% mirr-with-later-expense.csv | annual | 17.202459% | NPV 139.74 at 10% before-specified-fees.csv | annual | 10.992351% | NPV 253.94 at 10% after-specified-fees.csv | annual | 8.291461% | NPV -443.43 at 10% microsoft-dated-example.csv | dated | 37.336253% | NPV 1994.51 at 10% leap-year-actual-365.csv | dated | 9.971359% | NPV -0.26 at 10% same-date-offset.csv | dated | Indeterminate | NPV 0.00 at 10% METHOD AND PRECISION NPV is the sum of each signed amount divided by (1+rate)^elapsedYears. Expected values are explicitly stored; an independent verifier checks direct sums, analytic or bisection roots, and MIRR from separate PV/FV aggregates. Applicable answers and CSV parsing are also checked against the production calculator. Absolute comparison tolerance: expected rates 1e-10, expected NPV 1e-7 USD; production solver rates 1e-7. Return rates on the page display six decimal places in percent units. Monetary displays use cents. Inputs retain stored precision. These tolerances describe tests, not a bound for arbitrary visitor inputs. The multiple-root and no-root cases include algebraic proofs. A failed search alone is not proof that no mathematical solution exists. No Excel or Google Sheets application was run to create a compatibility study. No independent professional investment review is claimed. PROVENANCE AND CITATION CalculatorFlux supplies the constructed examples and explanatory annotations. Established formulas and mathematical facts are not claimed as our inventions. The amounts/dates in microsoft-dated-example come from Microsoft's illustrative XIRR example; expected values were independently calculated from those inputs.
